Terms of Use
Last updated: October 31, 2026
A few simple rules for using WhenUp. By signing in to the app, you accept these terms. If they do not suit you, do not use the app.
The service
WhenUp is an Android app that helps a group find a date: the organizer proposes time slots, each member answers from their phone, the group votes, then the organizer decides. The app is free and contains no ads. It is offered by Martin Marot, as a personal project.
Your account
A Google account is required to sign in. You must be at least 13 years old, and you are responsible for what you do with your account.
Access to your Google Calendar is optional, and it is requested separately, in two steps: reading right after sign-in (you can continue without it), writing only when you tap “Add to my calendar”. With your authorization, the app reads your events on your phone to propose time slots and pre-fill your answers, and it writes the chosen date to a “WhenUp” calendar that it creates itself. It does not modify your other calendars. You can withdraw this access at any time from your Google Account permissions. What is received, kept and shared is detailed in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms.
What you publish
Groups, event titles, places and descriptions, as well as your answers and your votes, are visible to the members of the group concerned. Only the group's name and its number of members are shown to someone who opens the invitation link in the app. You remain responsible for what you write there.
Please do not put anything illegal there, anything that harms another person (insults, harassment, private information about someone else) or anything that misuses the service, for example to send unsolicited messages. Content that does not follow these rules may be removed when reported to whenup001@gmail.com, and the account concerned may be suspended. The publisher does not look at the content of groups, except content that is reported to them.
Groups and invitation links
- Anyone who has a group's invitation link can join it. Send it only to those you want to see in the group.
- The creator of a group is its owner at first. They can rename it, remove a member or delete the group, which erases its events and answers for all members.
- A removed person no longer sees the group's events, but can join it again if they kept the invitation link.
- You can leave at any time a group you do not own. The owner, for their part, can delete the group or delete their account: the group then passes to its longest-standing member (or is deleted if the owner is alone in it).
Reminders
If you allow them, the app can remind you that a poll is waiting for your answer or that a date is to be set. These reminders are prepared on your phone, a few times a day, and are therefore not immediate: the “Needs an answer” label in your groups is the reference. You can turn them off in the settings.
Availability and liability
WhenUp is in testing and provided as is, without warranty: it may be unavailable, change or stop, and errors are possible. The proposed time slots and the answers pre-filled from your calendar are an aid, not a certainty: check before committing.
To the extent permitted by law, the publisher cannot be held liable for damages that would result from unavailability, an error or a missed appointment. This does not limit the rights that the law grants you.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time, from the app or by email: how to do it (page in French). You can also stop using the app whenever you wish.
Changes to the terms
This page carries its date of last update. If these terms change significantly, the change is announced in advance, in the app during an update or on this page. Continuing to use WhenUp after this change constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
